Research and Development

This page lists some of our research and development projects.  This is not scientific research and is not published in any journals.  These are, instead, projects that combine aspects of science and engineering to develop improved preservation protocols.  These projects also provide training and practice opportunities to help with staff proficiency.

04-2018-Cryoprotectant Concentrations - Identifies ranges of cryoprotectant concentrations that will not form crystals.

01-2017-Cooling Rates - How fast can we initially cool the brain?  Compares different techniques as well as showing the cooling rates at different depths.

05-2016-Case Report #4 - Electron micrograph of immersion fixation with no perfusion. Preservation was very poor.  Perfusion is a basic requirement.

2014-VM-1 Electron Micrographs - This protocol clearly preserves significant neural ultrastructure.
